Hekate's CD is one of the best debuts in the neofolk genre to have been released in the past few years. This eight-member band mixes acoustic sounds, including cello, harp, and various sorts of percussion, with tasteful use of synths. The percussion is the dominant element of their music, but they also have very strong melodies, even on the more chant-like tracks. Some songs feature female vocals and others feature male, and the lyrics are in various languages including English, French, and German, both modern and Medieval. Although their style can be compared to Dead Can Dance or Ataraxia, they do not sound like a clone of any other band. Definitely a band to keep an eye on
