PROPAGANDA MACHINE

PROPAGANDA MACHINE is based in Denver, Colorado, and its music is cast in the heroic synth-classical mould of groups like Blood Axis. This is not to say that its music reflects the heroic past so much as a dystopic future.

My first encounter with this music was 'The Wild Hunt' which featured on the Enlightenment Communications compilation cassette Lvxvria II. Propaganda Machine also contributed 'Lions Rising' to The Ravens Banner Cassette compilation.

Future compilation contributions will include 'Quarrel' to be featured on a forthcoming Belgian cassette, 'Womb of Nations' to be released on an Italian label, and 'Life Refuted' which will appear on a forthcoming Allegoria compilation based on Nietzsche's writings. The latter is of complex construction, and provides a cerebral as well as an emotional experience.

Their most important project, however, is a CD entitled Enmity to be released by Allegoria in the near future.

Their music is dramatic, brooding and of consistently high quality. It has a full sound, enhanced but rarely dominated by spoken-word soundclips and industrial noises, and it is particularly characterised by doom-laden, militaristic drumming, fit to raise Odin's warriors for the last battle.

This is just the sort of music I like to listen to on headphones while negotiating rush-hour crowds: if only they knew they were extras in such a dramatic private film!
