PALM SOFTWARE
A guide to the essential and best add-on software, hacks and utilities. The hacks are certainly useful on my Palm III. If you have a later operating system with increased functionality please check that these hacks are needed.
HACKS
One of the most exciting facets of having a 3Com Palm is loading it with 'hacks' and utilities to extend its functionality. Many of these run under HackMaster which provides a sort of runtime environment in which you can use individual functions.
We can recommend the following hacks:
SwitchHack - to ease movement between applications.
ClipHack - larger clipboard.
Drag&Drop - just like Windows, although this is not useable in Date Book and appears to introduce an element of instability.
OTHER FUNCTIONALITY EXTENSIONS
Datebk3 provides an enhanced front-end for the diary, facilitating integration of the diary and to-do-lists, and provides the option of creating 'floating' diary entries which come back to haunt you the next day. Note: devices with the Palm 3.5 and later operating systems already integrate Date Book and To Do list items.

WordComplete is a customisable dictionary which suggests automatic finishes for your words although you'll still have to rely on your partner to finish your sentences.I found this program a bit buggy and later obtained Text Plus which worked much better.

Another essential, if less glamorous, application is BackupBuddy which ensures that third-party add-ons are also backed up.
