A MURDER OF ANGELS

In The Air
2002
CD
Middle Pillar Presents MPP988

In The Air presents filmic soundtracks of cold industrial-ambience from Bryin Dall (Loretta's Doll and 4th Sign of the Apocalypse) and Derek Rush (Dream Into Dust). It's not until track 3, 'Momentary Vision', that something more tuneful creeps in. Beautiful and disturbing atmospheres, the bell that raises spirits, and the distorted sounds of infernal orchestras evoke Enochian images. This will have you reaching for a jumper as you sense the goosebumps rising on your arms and legs. That is if you can still move. It's a seductively unpleasant experience for those who enjoy the whoozy intoxication of their own fear. The dark ambient ("dambient") genre is well populated. It takes talent to achieve something that is different, original or just so good that it stands out. This is such an album.

The CD follows A Murder Of Angels' debut release, While You Sleep, and Bryin and Derek have also previously collaborated as Of Unknown Origin.
