The Orchids
2000
CD EP
HCDEP01
Distributed by World Serpent
7:03

This short CD EP was originally intended to be available only at the Wave Gotik Treffen 2000 in Leipzig, but World Serpent have now made it generally available following the festival's ignominious collapse. 'The Orchids' could almost be Ralph McTell except that it's a rendition of a Psychic TV song about the joys of genital piercing. It's none-the-less a very pleasant sound and not at all likely to make your eyes water. Joseph Budenholzer's vocals and guitar are supported by Julia Kent on cello. 'Flowers In Flame' is a radical remix of a track from Anthems From The Pleasure Park (1999) which features the heavenly voice of Connie Petruk and is pleasurable enough if not outstanding. There may not much on this CD but the cover is beautifully marked.

Rik - 25 August 2000
