ELIJAH'S MANTLE

ELIJA'S MANTLE is a new group on the World Serpent label.

Angels of Perversity (1993 DNDC 001 CD) enjoyed the collaboration of Brendan Perry of Dead Can Dance and was arranged, produced and engineered by him at his Quivvey Church Studio. It is a smooth, slick and sophisticated production with excellent sound quality and will appeal to Dead Can Dance fans. The material is essentially a Latin church service, but it is given an electro-gothic treatment.

Sorrows of Sophia (1995 DNDC 003 CD) in Latin, French and English also involved Brendan Perry and has a similar feel. Here, however, the Catholic preoccupation has been replaced by a pagan-encompassing Gnosticism. This CD has stronger orchestration than Angels of Perversity and the music is more urgent and exciting.

Elijah's Mantle are with World Serpent Distribution, Unit 717 Seager Buildings, Brookmill Road, London SE8 4HL.

Rik - 1996
