DREAM
INTO DUST
No Man's Land
1997

Dream Into Dust's first release is the poignantly presented No
Man's Land, a CDEP created by Derek Rush with Patrick Hogan
(Figurehead) and Bryin Dall (Loretta's Doll).
The words, music, and vocals are distinctly those of Derek Rush, and
if I describe this CD as a deranged and depressive nightmare I'm pretty
sure he'll take that as a compliment.
Of the poetry I was particularly struck by the lines:
we were prisoners of hope
now defeat has set us free
The pain expressed here seems less personal than his previous work.
Although rich in historical allusion, this is strangely ambiguous, suggesting
a universal rather than a specific meaning.
That the CD is in part highly atmospheric/industrial presumably reflects
the contribution of Derek's new collaborators, although I have no doubt
that the overall vision is entirely his own.
