ASYLUM
Rattus In Sanguine
2002
CD
45:35
Having an address in Naples is virtually guaranteed to win you a place in this
reviewer's heart. Asylum sound like compatriots Atrax
Morgue and Morder Machine, although
more techno/ebm in outlook. A melting pot of distorted ranting vocals, noise,
thumping beats and swirling electronic atmosphere Asylum have links with the
dark band Anima in Fiamme and gothic rockers Etoile
Noire, and hop between genres with the frenetic enthusiasm of a mountain
goat with a firework up its backside. The "Industrial Version" of
Kraftwerk's ‘The Model’ which closes the album
sounds like the original was put through a washing machine on extended cycle.
Inventive, and as wilful, chaotic and paradoxical as the city it hails from.
